Mel and Janet's Excellent Adventure

This blog is a way for Janet and Mel to communicate with friends and family during their incredible journeys following retirement. Of course, some adventures are less than incredible. You might not find those here. Their most recent adventure took them to Okinawa, Japan to see their now 4-year old twin grandchildren, Milana Michelle and Tavis Michael. Feel free to add your comments, questions, or just news. Private communications can be sent to m-muchnik@sbcglobal.net.

Amazing isn't it - to see one of the natural wonders of the world right from a patio attached to your lodge room. This is the Ngorongoro Crater - 12 miles across - site of a volcano that was higher than not too distant Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa at 19,340 feet. The volcano here collapsed on itself a million or more years ago leaving this caldera - one of 8 in the world. Inside this giant crater are 40,000 animals of all kinds. Most stay here, though some travel in and out. And yes, that is a rainbow.
