Mel and Janet's Excellent Adventure

This blog is a way for Janet and Mel to communicate with friends and family during their incredible journeys following retirement. Of course, some adventures are less than incredible. You might not find those here. Their most recent adventure took them to Okinawa, Japan to see their now 4-year old twin grandchildren, Milana Michelle and Tavis Michael. Feel free to add your comments, questions, or just news. Private communications can be sent to m-muchnik@sbcglobal.net.

The Red Centre

(1) Red Center

The red centre (OK "center" to most of you, but NOT all of you reading this) of Australia - in the Northern Territory - is really compelling. The land is vast. The topography seems flat then these hills or mountains or rivers that flood or remain dry. We drove the 400 km (250 miles or so) from Alice Springs ... yes that Alice, "A Town Like Alice," heading for Ayers Rock or now more commonly referred to by its aboriginal name, Uluru. The red center IS red!
