Mel and Janet's Excellent Adventure

This blog is a way for Janet and Mel to communicate with friends and family during their incredible journeys following retirement. Of course, some adventures are less than incredible. You might not find those here. Their most recent adventure took them to Okinawa, Japan to see their now 4-year old twin grandchildren, Milana Michelle and Tavis Michael. Feel free to add your comments, questions, or just news. Private communications can be sent to m-muchnik@sbcglobal.net.

Rounding Cape Horn

Fortunately and apparently rare was the extraordinarily clear, sunny and calm weather as we rounded Cape Horn on the tip of South America. No other continent location comes as close to Antarctica. At 56 degrees south latitude we are 350-400 miles from Antarctica. if you sailed east or west from where we were at Cape Horn, and circumnavigated the globe, you would not hit another piece of land until you got back to Cape Horn.
