New Zealand or bust
We left Rarotonga just ahead of Cyclone Olaf... thank goodness.
Arrived in New Zealand and checked out our home for the next two weeks - a camper/van. The size of a very large van, it contains a tiny kitchen, bathroom, bed and driving area. Actually, we stayed in a hotel in New York that was about the same size and had less storage. We're still learning how to navigate the space without killing each other, but we're learning.
New Zealand is as green and mountainous as we remembered. This time, we are concentrating on the north island. We're heading for an area called Bay of Islands, which is exactly what its name implies. The air is clean and clear and summer is coming to an end with nice cool evenings.

The Scene and Comments - Quite the difference from yesterday morning when we were between cyclones. And Cyclone Olaf which is approaching Rarotonga now is said to be twice the size of the last. My goodness!
As we approached the NZ coast, the clouds parted to reveal an almost magical coastline of green hills, mountains and hidden coves. This morning firmly on the ground after our first night in the camper van (or caravan in NZ terms), it is a beautiful clear day of blue skies and moderate ly warm temps with low humidity. We are writing this while having tea (Janet) and a long black (black coffee for Mel) on the veranda. Ah life is good, but Janet is still coughing.

Now remember, while the Hobbit is driving you two move about each other with care and appreciate the fact that New York hotel rooms arn't on wheels in Middle Earth.
Watch for Orcs.
Is it time for more pictures?
Mr. Green (with envy) under a gray L.A. sky, fighting the blues (but a homeowner, nevertheless).

Green with envy here too. My cough is subsiding a bit. Enjoy the scenery. Bring back a Hobbit.
