Mel and Janet's Excellent Adventure

This blog is a way for Janet and Mel to communicate with friends and family during their incredible journeys following retirement. Of course, some adventures are less than incredible. You might not find those here. Their most recent adventure took them to Okinawa, Japan to see their now 4-year old twin grandchildren, Milana Michelle and Tavis Michael. Feel free to add your comments, questions, or just news. Private communications can be sent to m-muchnik@sbcglobal.net.

End of Sea Voyage in Valparaiso, Chile

We arrived early yesterday morning at the end of our adventurous 12 day voyage around the tip of South America. Valparaiso , Chile is a pretty seaside port, 90 minutes from Santiago where we will travel later today after spending the night here. The house with multiple floors is the amazing home of the world famous Chilean poet and writer Pablo Neruda. We climbed to the very top floor with it's amazing nooks and crannies and extraordinary views of the sea. There was a huge forest fire just over the horizon filing the sky with considerable smoke. Later we saw from shore our home for 12 days heading out into the South Pacific. Bye bye Veendam. You were a terrific home on the high seas.
