Mel and Janet's Excellent Adventure

This blog is a way for Janet and Mel to communicate with friends and family during their incredible journeys following retirement. Of course, some adventures are less than incredible. You might not find those here. Their most recent adventure took them to Okinawa, Japan to see their now 4-year old twin grandchildren, Milana Michelle and Tavis Michael. Feel free to add your comments, questions, or just news. Private communications can be sent to m-muchnik@sbcglobal.net.

The Andes

Hairpin turns with a rented car - 40 of them- on roads as steep and as mottled you will ever see, took us to 8-9,000 feet. But it is summer here and dry in this part of Chile. Later when flying we saw much more dramatic views of the Andes, the highest mountain range in the Americas. The highest peak is almost 23,000 feet, the average well over 17,000.
